WORLD CULTURES NIGHT 2017

WorldCultureNight-Coming soon_crop.jpg

Thanks to everyone who was able to attend our first PTA meeting and World Cultures Night on September 22. We had an outstanding show of support from our Travis community, with over 300 attendees. First grade had the most attendees logged on the sign-in sheets, so each teacher will win a globe for their classroom. Well done, 1st grade! K, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th all TIED for second place!

Travis families brought the world to us, with ambassadors representing 23 nations. We got to experience culinary treats, original song and skit performances, beautiful craft-making, and, most importantly, a reminder that Travis is home to a fantastic array of cultures, all of which make all our lives richer for our interaction with them. Thank you to the families that contributed their time, treasure, and talent to make our very first World Cultures Night such a success!

Join us for our first PTA meeting of the year at 6 pm on Thursday, September 28,  immediately followed by World Cultures Night! During the meeting childcare will be provided, and immediately afterwards you will be transported around the world, thanks to our Travis ambassadors.  Parent representatives from countries all over the world will share the heritage of their cultures.  At 7 pm we will have some amazing dance performances from Grupo Folklorico Zapata and Clann Kelly.

Ambassadors are needed to host a table for our different countries,  so if you are interested in participating in this fun event, please email Programs@travispta.org by September 22nd with your name, contact information and country.

Pre-order your World Cultures Night dinner from Happy Fatz online now! Hurry scurry as pre-sales close at noon on 9/26. A portion of proceeds will go right back into PTA coffers to help subsidize things like ALL field trips for ALL students. That means buying a hot dog is practically a charitable act - how can you not? Pre-order here.

Help us start the school year off right at this wonderful night of celebration!
