On, the USDA reports that “about half of all American adults have one or more chronic diseases, often related to poor diet. Everything that we eat and drink - the food and beverage choices we make day to day and over our lifetime - matters.” The current recommendation in the USDA’s 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines is to fill our plates half full with fruits and vegetables at each meal. For elementary age children that means eating 2 to 2-1/2 cups of vegetables and 1-1/2 cups of fruit every day. Healthy eating habits are developed over a lifetime, but Travis contributes to this journey by taking part in The VegOut! Challenge. You can read more about the challenge HERE.

This month, the PTA will recognize all of Travis’ top veggie-eaters and award special prizes to the leading veggie-eater from each grade. To log your veggies, download the app or click HERE to download a paper form.

Also, don’t forget about the VegOut! Kick-Off Celebration happening at 3pm today, March 5, in the Travis Garden. And if you’re looking for some perfect veggie-centric ideas to inspire your Tiger, check out these fun recipes supplied by our very own Coach Dodd.
