PTA stands out from other parent groups in its long-term dedication to advocacy efforts. Through PTA, we fight for public school children's rights for strong and equitable educational opportunities. To that end, PTA Rally Day is a day for all PTA members across Texas to visit Austin to make our voices heard. The 86th legislative session of our Texas government will take place in 2019. On Monday, February 25th, PTA members from across the state will rally at the Capitol in Austin so that our legislators can see just how many parents are concerned about issues facing public education. Houston PTA leaders are organizing a group visit to Austin for HISD PTA members to participate in Rally Day, and we want YOU to join us!
On this day, in addition to a rally, we will also have the opportunity to meet with our local legislators. At this time, we can share our concerns and priorities for the next legislative session. How often have you complained about the failure of our legislators to act on important issues such as school funding and safety? This is the time to make sure that our voices are heard so that we do not have another legislative session pass without progress. You can find the Texas PTA legislative priorities HERE, and RSVP to attend Rally Day HERE. More details can be found via the Travis PTA Facebook page event HERE. Feel free to share the event with interested members of our wider Travis family. The more folks we have in attendance, the greater our influence in showing legislators we care about our public school students and the issues that impact them most.
