The House Public Education Committee issued a report detailing school safety recommendations. See the full report here.

If you care about public education, then voting is imperative. You should be an informed voter, but, first and foremost, you need to be registered (and registered at the appropriate address!). There are less than three weeks until the Texas voter registration deadline of October 9. If you have questions about voter registration, please click here.

Be an informed voter! Texas PTA asked the Texas candidates to respond to three questions related to public school education. Here are their responses.

If you are interested in the success of all students in HISD, HISD is looking for applicants for a new legislative advocacy group called H.E.A.R (Houston Educational Advocacy Representatives). This will be a coalition of parents, teachers, education advocates, business leaders, and other interested parties to advocate for HISD initiatives at the state and local levels. You can find information, including application information at this page. All voices for education are encouraged to apply, particularly people new to advocacy!

Upcoming HISD Board meetings (all held at Hattie Mae White Building):
Board Workshop: September 25, 4pm
Agenda Review: October 1, 4pm
Board Meeting: October 11, 5pm
