CARNIVAL IS COMING, CARNIVAL IS HERE!
This Saturday is the annual PTA Carnival. You've been hearing a lot about it lately, and for good reason. First, Carnival is FUN. This is a time when our entire Travis community, including our school, our alumni, and our neighbors, come together to celebrate the spookiest time of year. But it's obviously a FUNdraiser, too. PTA only holds two fundraiser each school year, as our primary focus is on providing opportunities for education and engagement for our students, families, and faculty. The PTA Auction, our spring fundraiser, bankrolls about 90% of the PTA's budget for the following school year, so it helps us pay for ALL the things - like Spanish and Garden instructors, teacher aide salaries, field trips, Writers in the Schools, and MORE. Carnival, our fall fundraiser, is all about our teachers. 80% of the net proceeds from Carnival are equally divided among instructional faculty at Travis to help defray some of the expenses that teachers would normally pay out-of-pocket. Carnival is our love letter to Travis faculty to thank them for being the strong backbone of an amazing community. We are so grateful to our sponsors, donors, and volunteers that have worked so hard to make this year's Carnival the best yet. Next week in Tiger Beat, we will report the amount raised to allocate to each teacher, and I already know it will be a number of which we can all be proud. So whether you have given a dollar of your treasure or an hour of your time, thank you for being part of the collective effort to show our teachers how much PTA and our community love and support them. 1:45 PM: Costume Parade
2:00 PM: Costume Contest
11:00 AM-2:00 PM: Trunk-or-Treat
11:00 AM-3:30 PM: Food available
4:00 PM: Carnival ends
We Need Your Help!
80% of the proceeds of our frightening fall fundraiser go directly to your child's classroom, and 100% of this event is organized and run by parent and teacher volunteers. WE STILL HAVE MANY SPOTS TO FILL, and we need your help! Opportunities include set-up, break-down, and more. We also request that ALL parents sign up for a time slot for their classroom-run Carnival Booths! Sign up HERE if you haven’t already, and please encourage others to do so as well!
We are in need of baked goods for Carnival. Don’t bake? No problem! Store bought works, too! Drop off the tasty treats any time this week at the front office. Please make sure they are bagged in individual serving sizes.
Last Call for Wristbands and Boo Bucks!
If you missed the October 19th deadline to pre-order wristbands or still want to get your Boo Bucks ahead of time…fear not! You’ll have one more chance to purchase these items on Wednesday, October 24th from 3-4pm out on the playground!
