Travis is a No Place for Hate School

Travis Elementary has been a No Place for Hate school for nine years. This year, as part of our anti-bullying campaign, our students participated in three school-wide activities. The activities are designed to create a safe and welcoming environment for our students, faculty, parents and community. Students are taught Character Education throughout the year, which serves as one of our activities. We use the 6 Pillars of Character to guide our lessons and focus on one pillar each month.

Another activity was a classroom lesson on diversity. Classrooms read the book, Looking Like Me, by Walter Dean Myers, and students wrote their own I Am poems.

The last activity was No Name Calling Week. We celebrated No Name Calling Week to highlight the importance of how we treat each other. As a school, we continue to focus on educating the whole child and finding ways to help students develop skills to become respectful individuals.
