Make sure to check out the newly re-landscaped butterfly gardens in the school courtyards along Florence Street! This was made possible by the incredible generosity and donation of time, labor and materials by Steven Acquard and his company Urbanscapes.
As we are all aware, the monarch butterfly is in danger. Mr. Acquard’s work in the gardens not only brings beauty to our school, but PTA funds put aside to pay for weeding, mulching and replanting the butterfly garden can instead be dedicated entirely to purchasing nectar plants and milkweed that nourish monarchs and help save an important species.
First grade teacher Ms. Keys, with the help of Travis families and volunteers, hopes to designate Travis as a monarch habitat or way-station. Be on the lookout for upcoming information regarding an official planting day!
Thank you, Mr. Acquard!
