Thank you from Mr. Day

Dear Travis Family,
At the HISD Principals’ Meeting on Dec. 3, school leaders were given a sweet surprise – holiday gifts made by the students and staff at their individual schools. I was totally overwhelmed to receive a beautiful hand-painted canvas comprised of the colorful fingerprints of our students. An outline of the state of Texas, it has a heart in the Houston area of the canvas that states, “To Mr. Day, From Your Travis Family.” The canvas garnered so much attention at the meeting that I was quoted and pictured on the HISD news blog.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to our amazing students for this tremendously thoughtful and heartfelt present you surprised me with and the effort you all put into this. I was overcome with joy!

I also want to thank Mr. Arena for his talents and work on this project and the Enrichment teachers for helping coordinate the students’ efforts. Thanks also to Ms. Soria, Ms. Messa, Ms. Smith, Ms. White, Ms. Balderas and Ms. Guzman for your roles in making this happen and to everyone else unnamed who kept it a ‘covert’ operation. I was truly surprised and had no idea this was coming.

Thank you to the Travis Community. You truly touched my heart.
With gratitude,
Mr. Day
