President’s Message

Hello Travis Community!

We are just about to wrap up our second week and it has been such a jam-packed start to school! If you haven’t had a chance to read Mr. Church’s update on crossing guards, garden, safety tips and more, please check it out here!

Our beloved Mr. John (crossing guard at Florence and Highland) and Mrs. Sanchez (Travis registrar) are both still recovering from surgery and we are asking for get well cards from our community. Please drop cards at the front office and our hospitality crew will deliver them!

Your PTA just keeps rolling and rocking so read on through and join us tomorrow morning for our first PTA General Meeting of the year! This meeting is our big debut of all that we have in store and how you can be part of the Travis magic! See you at 7:30am in the Travis library!

First Travis PTA Meeting

Mark your calendars for our first Travis PTA Meeting from 7:30-8:30am! We will meet on Friday, August 23rd in the library after morning drop-off. Kolache Shoppe has graciously donated delicious kolaches. We hope you can join us!

Room Parent Orientation

If you are designated as a room parent for your child’s homeroom teacher, please plan to attend this brief orientation on Tuesday, August 27th at 7:30am in the library. We will discuss room parent roles and responsibilities. This is also a great chance to ask questions and connect with other room parents in your child’s grade level. Email our VP of Parent Involvement with any questions.

Don’t feel like cooking tonight? Help our school by dining in or ordering take-out from Gabby’s BBQ on N. Shepherd! Show this flyer or mention Travis Elementary to earn our school 15% of sales for Tuesday, August 27th, from 11am - 9pm. Thanks Gabby’s BBQ and go Travis Tigers!

Fall Carnival Volunteer Meet & Greet

The Fall Carnival Volunteer Meet & Greet is Thursday, August 29th from 6-7pm at Grace's Pizza & Shakes. Please join us to learn more about the Travis Fall Carnival and opportunities to volunteer. PTA will provide light bites. If interested, please fill out this Google form.

Reminder: Labor Day and Staff PD Day

A quick reminder that there will be no school on Monday, September 2, 2024, in honor of Labor Day, and no school on Tuesday, September 3, 2024. See everyone back bright and early on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.

Coffee with Mr. Church

Parents are invited to join us Friday, September 6th at 7:30am for a conversation with Mr. Church. PTA will be serving coffee and light bites in the library - please sign in at the front desk first. We understand if you need to bring a younger sibling or leave early for work engagements. Please join us for information and connection!

Register Now: Travis Fun Run!

Mark your calendars for the annual Travis Fun Run on Friday, September 20th. The Travis Fun Run is the culmination of weeks of fundraising for our school. Students will participate during regular school hours on the Travis Track & Field for this fun-filled Booster school fundraiser. Registration is open now so don’t delay! Use Travis ID 526-72. Our official Fun Run Kick Off launches Monday, September 9th! More details coming soon!

Travis Open House

Travis parents & students: Tour your Tiger’s classroom and enrichment classes from 5:30-6:30pm on Tuesday, September 10th. PTA will be on hand with light concessions and spirit store items for sale.

Save the Date: Grandparents’ Day Lunch

Grandparents and family members are invited to join their student during their designated lunch period on Friday, September 13th. Admission tickets will be sent home through classroom teachers for parents to distribute. Family members will wait in the library until their grade level lunch begins. This is a free event - guests may bring their own food or purchase an optional cafeteria meal separately through the front office for $5. PTA recommends advanced purchase if you plan to buy the cafeteria meal.

Meet Your PTA

PTA Board is proud to present our Hospitality Co-Chairs, Trinh Kuo and Erika Priest. Hospitality is responsible for creating a welcoming school environment through event planning, preparation and execution of PTA hospitality events (coffee and lite bites at monthly PTA meetings) and Teacher/Staff Appreciation events (such as stock the fridge, National Appreciation days for school staff and teacher appreciation week activities). Erika is a mom to two boys, James and Jackson. James is a second grader at Travis and Jackson attends a local preschool. When not busy with her boys, Erika is often seen walking or playing with their family goldendoodle, Reggie. Trinh has a daughter at Travis. Gabby is in the fourth grade. Trinh enjoys gardening at home during her free time.
