Hello Travis Community!

It’s almost time for the big day as we put the final touches on supplies, backpacks, lunch boxes and more! Be sure to label everything and follow your grade and teacher instructions for when and how to bring all the things!

Your PTA is 30+ leaders strong and we are busy getting ready to welcome everyone back tomorrow for the famous Meet the Teacher & Watermelon Social - a Travis tradition filled with sweet smiles, spirited students and totally terrific teachers. Be sure to STOP BY the PTA Spirit Store to grab all your gear and learn more about all we do to make our school community shine!

Get VIPS Certified for 2024-2025!

It’s time to get VIPS certified for the 24-25 school year. If you plan to volunteer, chaperone, or even eat lunch with your student - you must be VIPS approved! You can find the application here.

Meet the Teacher / Watermelon Social

Come to school and meet your teachers (K - 5th) in their classrooms from 2:00-3:30pm on Friday, August 9th. PTA will be welcoming families back to school with watermelon slices in the cafeteria. We will have spirit store pre-orders available for pickup as well as booths from Garden, Girl Scouts, Kidventure, and the Travis Foundation.

Travis Foundation Supply Drive

Our amazing Travis Foundation is earning a community service grant through DT Midstream. Next time you’re grocery shopping or browsing the aisles of Target, throw in one or more of these 5 items listed above. Bring these school supplies to Meet the Teacher on Friday, August 9th, and drop them off at Foundation’s table. Let’s stock our teachers’ classrooms for the 2024-2025 school year!

Kinder Play Date

Come to the Travis Spark Park (playground) rain or shine and meet your new classmates and peers from 9-10am on Saturday, August 10th. PTA will be welcoming new and returning kinder families with donuts. Siblings are welcome. Bring a coffee or a water bottle - it will be warm! (Note: teachers will NOT be present)

Boohoo/Yahoo Breakfast

After dropping off your child for the first day, parents are invited to join us Monday, August 12th at 7:30am for coffee and light bites on the basketball court. Whether you are crying tears of sadness or joy, join PTA as we say goodbye to summer and send our students back to school on the first day.

As we approach the end of summer, the PTA Hospitality team is hard at work planning ways to thank and spoil our teachers and staff throughout the upcoming school year. If you have any feedback from last year's events or ideas for this year, please feel free to share your thoughts with us at hospitality@travispta.org.

We know the first week of school is exciting and exhausting for students, teachers, parents and all staff! By Friday, we will all need a little pick me up to make it to the weekend so let’s say THANKS A LATTE to our staff for their energy and dedication to our kiddos by stocking the staff lounge with caffeine in the form of coffee. The PTA Hospitality Committee will set up bottled coffee drinks for our staff on Friday, August 16th.  Thank you to all of those who signed up to bring items on Parent Square. Reminder to please label all items with "PTA - Coffee" and drop them off at the front office on or before the morning of Friday, August 16th.

Did you miss an opportunity to bring in coffee for our staff? No need to fret! Your PTA Hospitality team will have many more chances to donate throughout the year!

First Travis PTA Meeting

Mark your calendars for our first Travis PTA Meeting of the year! We will meet on Friday, August 23rd in the library after morning drop-off. Kolache Shoppe has graciously donated delicious kolaches. We hope you can join us!

Travis Shakespeare Players

The Travis Shakespeare Players (an after-school theatre program for 3rd-5th graders) still has a few spots available for our Fall 2024 Season. Our two troupes will begin rehearsals the second week of school (Tuesday 8/20 and Thursday 8/22). 

Regular rehearsal times are 2:50p - 5:00p August until mid-December which culminates in a performance of four Shakespearean plays, in evening performances. Our program varies from year to year, but always includes at least one tragedy, one comedy, and one history play

Shakespeare classes are limited to 18 students per troupe. Enrollment is currently full for fourth grade girls in both troupes and for fifth grade girls in our Tuesday Troupe. However, we still have spots available for boys at all three grade levels in both troupes and for third grade girls.

Tuition is $500.00 for the fall semester. You may ask for the Fall 2024 application forms at the Travis front desk or click here.  If your Travis student is interested in acting, performing, becoming immersed in Shakespeare's Theatre, and having fun in the process, please contact the director at t carolefairfield5@att.net.
