We hope your week has been great and thank you to everyone who joined us for our PTA Meet & Greet at Grace Pizza & Shakes - it was another great opportunity to support this wonderful community partner and learn more about volunteer opportunities at Travis.

If you are still interested in learning more and sharing your interest with us, please help us get to know you better by completing this form AND please join us tomorrow morning for our first PTA General Meeting of 2025!

We will provide updates on our PTA budget, officially elect our nominating committee, announce Spring events, and so much more!

HISD School Board Meeting Tonight

Coffee with Your PTA - Jan. 17th

Please join us Friday, January 17th at 7:30am for a PTA general meeting. PTA will be serving coffee and light bites in the cafeteria - please sign in at the front desk first. We understand if you need to bring a younger sibling or leave early for work engagements. Join us for information and connection!

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

HISD is closed Monday, Jan. 20th as we celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. See everyone back Tuesday, Jan. 21st.

Garden Update!

Interested in joining our vibrant Travis Garden team?  The Travis PTA is accepting applications for a dedicated part-time instructor to join Ms. West and Mrs. Knox in the Travis Garden starting Summer 2025. We are looking for someone who is passionate about working with children and sharing their love of gardening!  Teaching hours are approximately 12-15 hour per week and primarily in the mornings.  Please complete this form to express interest and share information about yourself!  We look forward to following up with you to learn more. Questions? Mad About Hoops!

Registration is now open for hula hoop after school classes at Travis Elementary School! 

Mad About Hoops is the nation's number one hula hoop afterschool and summer camp program. This Houston based company is celebrating 10 years of MAKING FITNESS FUN. Each class consists of stretching, games and tricks all using the hula hoop. All equipment is provided for in class use. All students enrolled in Spring 2025 classes will be invited to perform at the MLS Houston Dynamo Halftime show! Click here to watch a past performance.

Classes take place in the Travis gym on Mondays starting Jan 27 - May 12.

Travis Variety Show

We are proud to announce that the Annual Travis Elementary Variety Show is back!!!!! The Variety show will take place on Thursday, March 27th at 6 p.m. Students are invited to show off their special talents and skills with our Travis family and friends.
 
Auditions are open to students in all grades. All students who wish to participate are required to audition prior to the Variety Show. Students may audition in groups or alone. Each student is only allowed to audition one time.  In the audition process, the students will be judged on such qualities as delivery, stage presence, and creativity. Approximately 20 student acts will be chosen to perform in the Variety Show. Each act must not exceed 2 minutes in length.
 
Students wishing to audition must complete the audition application form, that can be found here, and return it to Ms. Day or the front office by 3:15 p.m. on Friday, February 3rd. Timeline of Events: 

• Friday, Jan. 31: permission slips due to Ms. Day or office by 3:30

• Monday, Feb 6: audition appointment times sent home with students requesting auditions

• Tuesday, Feb 11 & Thursday Feb 13: auditions are held during enrichment times and after school

• Friday, March 7: notification letters will be emailed to parents of students who auditioned

• Thursday, March 27@6pm:  “Travis Has Talent” Variety Show in the Multipurpose Room

Travis Homecoming: A Spring Gala & Auction

Travis Homecoming - A Spring Gala & Auction is the largest Travis Elementary fundraiser of the year hosted by the Travis Foundation!  Join us for an evening of music, silent and live auctions, a fun paddle raise, open bar and delicious food - all in plenty of space to mingle, dance, and raise funds for Travis Elementary.  Help us toast to our amazing teachers and staff, celebrate our community and enjoy an unforgettable night.  To buy tickets, donate an auction item or sign-up party, or to learn more, please click here.

PTA Spotlight

The PTA Board proudly presents our President, Andrea French. Andrea is serving in her 6th year on the Travis PTA Board and currently has one daughter at Travis in 4th grade (Sutton). Her son, Jackson is a Travis alum and is enjoying 6th grade at Hogg Middle School. She enjoys reading, mahjong, and serving her community!  As PTA President, Andrea manages and keeps all things PTA moving and grooving which can offer a new adventure every day! Most importantly, Andrea is honored to lead such an amazing and talented team and is grateful for the opportunity to serve a wonderful school community.
